Select Pecan The heart wood is a dark reddish, and sap wood is very light. Pecan is very hard and durable. Pecan is very similar to hickory, except the heart wood is slightly redder in Pecan, and slightly tanner in Hickory. The sap wood is indistinguishable with one another.
